About me

Hello, I'm Maarten. I work to build great cybersecurity programs that leave society a little safer and more resilient every day.

I'm a cybersecurity executive with over two decades of experience. I was Chief Security Officer at Adobe and Chief Trust Officer at Zendesk, and have held leadership roles at Fastly, Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. I'm currently a Cybersecurity Fellow at Adobe.

I grew up in Belgium, hold Master's degrees in Information Security and Intelligence from Edith Cowan University and International Relations from Freie Universität Berlin, and served on the Board of the Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams (FIRST) from 2011–2021, including a term as Chairman. For ten years I served as Lead Expert to the IGF's Best Practice Forum on Cybersecurity.

My most important role is being a dad and husband. I enjoy nature, travel, Aikido, and photography. Just give me a shout if there's anything you want to tell or ask me.
