Amateur Radio
KF7GGK is my FCC-issued amateur radio callsign. I hold a General class license. I operate from the Sunset neighborhood in San Francisco, right below the SFARC W6PW 145.150 repeater on the Sutro tower.
My standard rig is a TS-990s for HF, a Kenwood TS-2000 for VHF and UHF, but you can also hear me on a Yaesu VX-8DR transceiver, or from the car using a BTECH UV-5X3. From home I use a Radiohaus Cobweb antenna and a Sigma HF 360 XP vertical for HF, and a Comet GP-15 vertical for VHF/UHF. I transmit up to 500 watts with an Elecraft KPA500 amplifier.
I am a member of the Amateur Radio Relay League and the San Francisco Radio Club.

I've been involved with radio before I even had internet access, and continue to be excited about the magic of radio propagation, and how radio signals can travel around our wide world, and enable people to exchange experiences.
My furthest QSOs were with a station in Russia and in Argentina, with 200 watts on USB. Given my compromise antennas, I was really excited.
